This is one of the most scenic trails on the island, starting in the woods and emerging onto a floating dock through the cattail-lined Bowley Pond with exceptional views of some of the island’s largest sand dunes. Floating Boardwalk over Bowley Pond at Greenwich National Park, Prince Edward Island, Canada To reach this boardwalk, you will need to walk through a fairly level groomed trail that meanders through what was, at one time, an agricultural field and then a short jaunt through a wooded area. Later, Troy became his own attraction, with a little critter crawling on him…;). The site contains an extensive and fragile coastal dune system, wetlands and various natural habitats in which numerous rare plant species are found. This beautiful field of fireweed, made for a popular photo spot. Beautiful in any season, and accessible by the Confederation Bridge or the ferry, Prince Edward Island is a must-visit! The best part about this hike and beach is that it is not crowded. Its easternmost segment, Greenwich, is located on a peninsula bordering St. Peter’s Bay and the Gulf of St. Lawrence.Greenwich is the site of some of the island’s most impressive sand dunes, and access to a beautiful beach as well as wooded trails. End at the beach and if you still haven't had enough walking continue out to the point. As you wind you way along Rte #2, you'll catch many views of St. Peters bay traveling towards Morell. When you live in Nova Scotia, a weekend trip to PEI, makes for a perfect getaway. And a grand one it is! The boardwalk take you across a pond towards a small mountain that is actually a giant sand dune.
