I ended up leaving my senior year because junior year I fractured my foot and my teacher still tried to make me dance on it, saying I would fail if I didn’t (this issue ended up getting resolved but the teachers for dance are generally not very good teachers or dancers). Not only that, but attending choir every day was, by far, the best experience I've ever had in all my years of schooling. The dance department at School of the Arts is very poor. Sophomore: Charleston county school district cares about their students as a whole. Students have to apply to get into Academic Magnet, and it is quite competitive. I feel safe and confident in my education which is about all that anyone could ask for at this time. The school also does a lot for the community as we hold Winter and Easter Festivals and community clean up projects through our school's Beta Club (which I am an officer in). The environment is always bubbly and cheerful. I made friends with those who were like me... or at least a little bit like me. I love the environment of Berkeley County Middle college. I also love that when it came to sports anyone could be apart of the team; I believe in doing this it would help certain students want to participate more in school or athletic activities. All in all, SOA is truly a great school as long as you steer clear of the dance department and take math classes at Academic Magnet next door. James Island also has good schools - from their elementary schools up to their Charter high school. Fortunately, Charleston, SC offers a great array of private school options and some of the best public schools in the state, including one of nations best magnet schools. It is noticably smaller than other larger public schools, but the school suits most people who are dedacated in their studies or who have already been accepted. Many people talked down at this school, but they didn't realize the talent and brainiacs we had in there.
