Peggy seemed like she needed some extra help as she was in special education classes in high school but seem like she was would've done well for herself if she had the extra support she needed.But there are way too many names in this story to even begin to be able to follow it. The news she had feared was just confirmed. “She was trying to find her place.”With nowhere to go, Johnson took up a spare bunk bed in Robertson’s childhood home. Saying she couldn’t handle Johnson anymore, LaRoche told police she let Johnson out of her car in a rural area and left her by the side of a road. After LaRoche met Johnson, who was a senior in high school at the time, she took her in because she was homeless, under an agreement that Johnson would act as a nanny and housekeeper in exchange for living with the family.Now grown, LaRoche's children told investigators that their mother was very abusive toward Johnson, who was forced to stay and sleep in a crawl space beneath their home.LaRoche's ex-husband confirmed the abuse, describing LaRoche as a “force to be reckoned with. Yet his name is being kept out of the press and there's no mention anywhere of him facing charges. She has maintained her innocence, first having told police she left Peggy with someone else to say with but later changing her story saying she drove to Wisconsin and let Peggy out of the car in a rural area before driving away.She faces life in prison if convicted.
