The comprehensive process assessed the health of Mississippi using the Mobilizing for Action through Partnerships and Planning (MAPP) community engagement model.Gathering information for the entire state was imperative and could not be done without the help of many individuals.

Changing the health of Mississippians as a result of this great collaboration ignited excitement for everyone involved.

The four priority areas chosen are: Improving Infant Health, Creating a Culture of Health, Increase Educational Attainment, and Decreasing Rates of Chronic Disease.

The number of tests done in the state totals 477,160 as of August 1. The data collected has proven to be a valuable shared resource for Mississippi non-profit hospitals conducting Community Health Needs Assessments.At the completion of the SHA, the 90 partners gathered once again to discuss the results of the assessment and choose the state health priorities to be addressed in the State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP).
