Jim Aupperle also did some nice sequences he did a tad bit of Doug's T-Rex & Stegasaurus battle. Soon the crew discovers that there are dinosaurs on the planet, and blood-thirsty buggers at that.

So for that select group of us out there, this is a bargain, as the effects really are quite good and the dinosaurs have plenty of screen time to make you happy, while the script, acting and poor character development add to the charm. The exhibits were in full light of day with no special effects for the children's benefit at all.

After the success of Star Wars, there was a boost in interest in Sci-Fi movies. I must say that while it is an unabashedly "B" movie, it is an acquired taste. I would have to say the acting on this film is some of the worst I have seen not including James Withworth he did a great job. One of the amusing things about this movie is that it looks so much like a porno film, but instead of sex you get action scenes with pretty well done effects. Near comic acting and screen writing is surpassed in importance by the fact that this, to my knowledge, is the first film to utilize flatulence as a sound track. The characters behave in a way that you can believe, their reactions to circumstances seem like those real people might have in that situation. I understand Harryhausen visited the set during production, so I'm not surprised by the excellence of the animated sequences.. While incredibly silly now, I would have enjoyed this one quite a bit as a child.

I would have enjoyed it more now had they ramped up the carnage and perhaps shown a peek of a bare boob or something, but as it was, it was silly fun and in the category of so bad it is good. Was this review helpful? The acting is amateurish, but passable.

There are literally no redeeming qualities to be found in this pile of wasted celluloid. Planet of Dinosaurs is an ultra cheesy camp sci-fi tale that leaves a lot to be desired. As the stranded survivors wait to be rescued they discover the planet is infested with prehistoric dinosaurs which want to eat them & communications officer Cindy (Mary Appleseth) is the first to end up as dinosaur food. The dinosaurs are classic stop motion creatures, most probably by Jim Danforth, a student of Ray Harryhausen's and best known for his work on "The Outer Limits" and "Jack the Giant Killer." There is plenty of appropriately chilling scenery (and I couldn't see any houses or roads), a superbly eerie soundtrack and some dramatic, impressive stop-motion dinosaurs including one of the scariest Tyrannosaurs ever to dominate a movie screen (it even kills the Beast from 20,000 Fathoms at one point, the Harryhausen monster's cameo a nice touch). Dinosaur Planet Bangkok was a huge letdown.

Featuring actors sporting bushy hair and mustaches, colored jumpsuits doubling as futuristic space-wear, overall clumsy acting, a cheesy synth score and a spaceship interior which looks like it was built in some neighbor's garage, PLANET OF DINOSAURS can't hide its bargain basement production values. No seats for the videos that were played at some venues. 5 out of 7 found this helpful. Planet of Dinosaurs was one of those movies which I wanted for ages but got hold of it eventually. Those are some unflattering jumpsuits.

Although set in the future, Planet of the Dinosaurs, is pure 1970s camp, with hairstyles and jump-suits that evoke unpleasant memories of the horrible disco era.
